Home >> Our Process

|

We break the process of designing a house into 3 basic phases:
Phase 1: Schematic Design
During this phase, we meet several times with the client and visit the site personally to gather as much information as possible. We will work with our client to determine what spaces will be needed, as well as what the relationships between these spaces should be. We wlll then begin to sketch out various floor plan and exterior design suggestions. This phase concludes with fairly well established floor plans and front elevation sketches.
Phase 2: Design Development
This phase begins by taking the sketches from the previous phase and imports them into the computer, where the design is carefully "modeled" in 3 dimensions. The benfits of this approach are the the client is able to, in effect, walk around the proposed house, view it from all angles instead of basing decisions on static 2-D drawings. This phase ends with drawings needed for bidding purposes such as dimensioned floor plans and elevations.
Phase 3: Construction Documents
This final phase is where all of the drawngs needed to build the design are produced. Electrical plans, door, window and finish schedules, exterior details and conditions, interior elevations and details (where needed) and other such documents needed to fully communicate with the builder.
